MOSCOW (AA) - A solidarity event in support of the Palestinian people was held on Saturday in Moscow, jointly organized by the Palestinian and Venezuelan embassies.

The event, which was held at the Palestinian Embassy, was attended by Palestinian Ambassador Abdel Hafiz Nofal and Venezuelan Ambassador Jesus Rafael Salazar Velasquez, along with Palestinian, Russian, and Venezuelan citizens.

In his address, Nofal accused Israel of committing genocide in Gaza. "For a year, Israel has been attacking civilians under the pretext of Hamas' actions. Over 40,000 Palestinians have been killed, and more than 100,000 injured," he said.

The Palestinian envoy also emphasized the urgent need for humanitarian aid and a cease-fire to bring peace to Gaza.

Velasquez echoed Nofal's condemnation of the violence, saying: "We stand against the genocide carried out against children, women, and civilians. The recognition of the State of Palestine is essential for peace to be achieved."

The Venezuelan ambassador also mentioned that similar events against Israeli actions are planned globally under the directive of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro.

Russian citizen Oksana Hokonova criticized the lack of international intervention, while Venezuelan student Alberto Alava expressed hope for peace and an end to the violence in Gaza.
