ANKARA (AA) - Palmeiras won their first CONMEBOL Recopa Sudamericana -- South America's top club trophy -- with a 4-2 aggregate on Thursday after defeating Athletico Paranaense 2-0 in the final's second leg.
Ze Rafael scored the match's first goal in minute 50, followed by fellow midfielder Danilo 38 minutes later at the Allianz Parque in Sao Paulo.
The first leg of the final ended in a 2-2 draw at the Arena da Baixada in Curitiba, Brazil last Thursday.
Organized by the South American Football Confederation (CONMEBOL) since 1988, Recopa Sudamericana is held annually between the winners of South America's two top-tier club tournaments: The Copa Libertadores and Copa Sudamericana.
Argentine powerhouse Boca Juniors boasts the most trophies -- four -- of the organization.
