ISTANBUL (AA) - The New Orleans Pelicans are working on a deal to acquire Christian James McCollum from the Portland Trail Blazers, an NBA insider confirmed Tuesday.
"The New Orleans Pelicans are finalizing a deal to acquire Portland Trail Blazers guard CJ McCollum for a package around Josh Hart and draft compensation," Shams Charania said on Twitter.
Charania said the deal includes Josh Hart, Nickeil Alexander-Walker, Tomas Satoransky and draft compensation.
NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski said on Twitter: “There's optimism a deal will be completed -- perhaps as soon as today -- but there's still work to be done to reach an agreement."
McCollum has averaged 20.5 points, 4.3 rebounds and 4.5 assists in 36 games this season. The 30-year-old guard won the 2015-16 NBA Most Improved Player Award.
