ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's main opposition leader said late Sunday that people sided with democracy during the local elections.
“We have experienced every kind of injustice, but people sided with democracy. This is very important for us,” Kemal Kilicdaroglu said in his speech after Sunday's polls.
“We are ready to fulfill all our duties in overcoming Turkey's economic crisis," he added.
Millions of Turkish voters cast their votes in the local elections to choose Turkey’s mayors, city council members, mukhtars (neighborhood officials), and members of elder councils for the next five years.
