LONDON (AA) - Emergency services have rushed to the scene of a light aircraft crash in Fife, Scotland after the plane plummeted into a meadow shortly after takeoff.
According to British media reports, the incident occurred just before noon on Monday in Kinglassie in central Fife.
Police have cordoned off the area as investigations continue. A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "Emergency services are in attendance near Fife Airport after a light aircraft crashed at 11.40am on Monday, 23 December, 2024. Enquiries are ongoing."
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service responded promptly, deploying multiple units to the crash site. A spokesman said after being alerted about the crash, “Operations Control mobilised two appliances and a heavy rescue unit to the scene to assist emergency services partners."
Additional emergency services arrived by helicopter to provide further assistance. Fire crews and other personnel remain at the site as efforts to secure the area and assess the situation continue.
The circumstances surrounding the crash remain unclear, with further updates expected as investigations progress.
