Poland condemns 'all actions' violating int'l law in Israel-Palestine conflict

Polish deputy foreign minister criticizes cutting off access to electricity, water for civilians in Gaza Strip

WARSAW (AA) - Poland "strongly" condemns all actions violating international law including attacks on civilians and destruction of infrastructure in the Israel-Palestine conflict, said Polish Deputy Foreign Minister Pawel Jablonski.

"Poland constantly calls for the possibility of safe evacuation of civilians - including in particular citizens of the Republic of Poland and other third countries - from areas at risk of such attacks," Jablonski said on X on Thursday.

His remarks were in response to criticism from Yacov Livne, the Israeli envoy in Warsaw, who had criticized him over comments on the loss of life in the Gaza Strip.

"I heard words of sadness at the enormous loss of life in the Gaza Strip and expressions of solidarity with the Palestinians. I emphasized that every human life is priceless," said Jablonski, referring to his meeting with ambassadors from Arab countries. He also noted that Poland will not agree to "double standards" in this area.

Livne, criticized the deputy Polish minister's remarks on X, saying he hopes that Jablonski also called on the Arab countries "to condemn the horrific crimes #HamasNazi and recognize Israel's right to exist as a Jewish state."

In response, Jablonski reiterated that Poland "unequivocally and firmly condemns the cruel crimes committed by Hamas." However, he added that Israel has the right to defend itself "in accordance with international law."

"We note with growing concern that such an evacuation has been prevented for a long time," added Jablonski, referring that civilians have not been allowed to evacuate.

"Poland strongly condemns all actions violating this right - including, in particular, attacks resulting in civilian casualties, destruction of infrastructure, hospitals, schools, residential houses, cutting off access to electricity and water for civilians in the Gaza Strip, and other similar actions," he added.
