GENEVA (AA) – A police officer was shot dead by a colleague in Austria on Monday, authorities said.
The incident took place at a police station in Trieben, a town in the central district of Liezen.
Local daily Kurier said the victim was a 58-year-old police officer who was shot by a 46-year-old colleague during an interrogation.
The shooter was being questioned about an accusation against him, the report said, without giving details about the charges.
A police statement said the suspect was arrested and confirmed that a “service weapon” was used in the murder.
An investigation is being conducted by authorities in the neighboring state of Salzburg, according to the Kurier report.
