Police shot a female suspected of threatening riders on the subway on Tuesday in Paris, according to media reports.
The woman allegedly threatened riders with possible attacks, Police Chief Laurent Nunez told broadcaster BFMTV, based on statements by witnesses.
The suspect was shot in her stomach by police and the Bibliotheque Francois-Miterrand station was evacuated and closed after the incident, said BFMTV.
Government spokesperson Olivier Veran said in a news conference that the suspect was previously convicted of threatening soldiers.
Two investigations were launched -- one into the suspect’s actions and one into her shooting, said Veran.
