BRUSSELS (AA) - Voting in Belgium for the European Parliament and the country’s general elections ended on Sunday.
The elections, which started at 8:00 a.m. local time, concluded at 2:00 p.m. for paper ballots and at 4:00 p.m. for electronic voting.
Citizens went to the polls for both the European Parliament and the general elections in the country.
With the lowering of the voting age, 16- and 17-year-olds voted for the first time in the elections.
The initial unofficial results are expected within hours, while the official results are expected to be announced on June 10.
Belgium, with a population of 11.5 million, will send 22 representatives to the European Parliament.
