MADRID (AA) - Socialist Party (PS) won Sunday’s parliamentary elections in Portugal but failing to secure a majority, according to initial exit polls.
Prime Minister Antonio Costa's party will take between 104 and 112 seats, falling short of a majority with four seats, according to Portuguese state television channel RTP.
Sunday's elections mark the 16th time that the Portuguese vote in legislative elections.
About 10 million voters are eligible to cast ballots to elect 230 lawmakers to the parliament. However, according to unofficial results, the turnover stood around 51% and 55%, which was lower than the previous elections in 2015.
