ISTANBUL (AA) - The Qatar Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani said Saturday there is a need to open safe corridors in Gaza and ensure violence does not expand regionally, in a telephone call with Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi, according to the official Qatar News Agency (QNA).
Bin Hamad Al Thani received a call from Raisi where he emphasized "the importance of efforts to de-escalate the situation, sparing civilians from the consequences of the fighting, opening safe corridors in Gaza for relief and humanitarian efforts, and ensuring that the violence does not expand regionally,” it said.
He stressed his country’s “firm position in condemning the targeting of civilians, collective punishment policies, and calls for the displacement of Palestinians."
The two leaders “discussed the bilateral relations between the two countries, ways to develop them, and several regional and international issues of common interest, particularly concerning the developments in the Palestinian territories and Israel,” according to QNA.
