JERUSALEM (AA) - An Israeli source expected Tuesday that Qatar may announce a cease-fire in Gaza, under which a prisoner swap deal will take place between Palestinians and Israelis.
Israeli public broadcaster, KAN, quoted an informed source who is aware of the details of the deal between Israel and Hamas, who said the deal is about to be finalized and Doha may announce the terms later Tuesday.
KAN did not provide further details.
Israeli Channel 12 quoted an Israeli official who said: "We are very close to reaching a deal.”
The official, whose name was not mentioned, added that the deal includes the release of 50 Israeli hostages while the others, another 50, may be released in exchange for renewing the cease-fire.
He noted that those who will be released from the Hamas captivity are women and children.
Israeli media said the Israeli hostages’ release would be in exchange for releasing Palestinian women and children from Israeli jails, as well as allowing humanitarian aid and fuel to enter Gaza.
