ISTANBUL (AA) - Real Madrid suffered a shock 3-2 loss Tuesday to RB Leipzig on matchday five of the UEFA Champions League.
RB Leipzig scored the opener when Josko Gvardiol flicked a header toward the goal at the RB Arena in Leipzig.
After five minutes, RB Leipzig doubled the lead with a close-range shot from Christopher Nkunku.
Vinicius Jr narrowed the gap to one with a header for Real Madrid in the 44th minute.
Timo Werner netted for RB Leipzig while Rodrygo converted a stoppage-time penalty as the match ended 3-2 in favor of the Germain club.
Despite their loss against Leipzig, Real Madrid had already advanced to the last 16 with 10 points, four points ahead of third-place Shakhtar Donetsk.
RB Leipzig are second, having nine points in Group F.
Chelsea tasted a 2-1 narrow victory against RB Salzburg in Group E at Red Bull Arena.
Mateo Kovacic and Kai Havertz scored for the Blues, while Junior Adamu produced one goal for RB Salzburg.
Collecting 10 points, Chelsea top Group E, four points ahead of third-place RB Salzburg.
Paris Saint-Germain hammered Maccabi Haifa 7-2 at the Parc des Princes.
The Parisians' goals came from Lionel Messi (2), Kylian Mbappe (2), Neymar, Sean Goldberg (own goal) and Carlos Soler.
The Israeli side found two goals with Senegalese defender Abdoulaye Seck.
With Real Madrid and Chelsea, Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain, Benfica and Borussia Dortmund advanced to the last 16 of the Champions League after five games.
