ANKARA (AA) - Retail sales in Germany rose 1.9% month-on-month in July, according to provisional estimates released by Destatis, the country’s statistical office.
The figure recovered from a 1.5% fall in June and beat the market forecast of a flat reading.
It is the biggest increase since June last year, supported by higher food (2.1%) and online sales (9.2%).
“Compared with July 2021, retail trade recorded a 2.6% decrease in turnover in real terms and a nominal increase of 6.1% in July 2022,” Destatis said.
