ISTANBUL (AA) - River Plate won the Copa Libertadores after beating their Argentine rivals Boca Juniors 3-1 in extra time on Sunday.
Argentine clubs River Plate and Boca Juniors met in the Copa Libertadores final on Sunday after the biggest football match in South America was relocated to Real Madrid’s Santiago Bernabeu Stadium.
It was postponed and transferred from Buenos Aires to Madrid after River Plate fans attacked Boca Juniors’ club bus in November ahead of the second leg.
The Copa Libertadores in South America is the equivalent of Europe’s Champions League.
River won their fourth South American title while Boca had won the cup for six times.
