ANKARA (AA) - The Portuguese Football Federation on Monday unveiled Roberto Martinez as the newly appointed Portugal National Football Team manager.
The former Belgium coach claimed the post after Portuguese coach Fernando Santos' departure last year.
Santos' eight-year-plus tenure was ended by the federation last Dec. 15, days after Portugal were eliminated in the World Cup Qatar quarterfinals when Morocco shocked the world with a 1-0 win.
Martinez, 49, coached the Belgium National Football Team until the end of 2022.
The Spanish coach previously bagged the 2013 FA Cup with Wigan Athletic.
