WASHINGTON (AA) - American actor Carl Weathers, known for a wide range of iconic films, including Rocky, is dead at the age of 76, his manager announced Friday.
Weathers "died peacefully in his sleep," on Thursday, said Matt Luber, according to media reports.
He starred as Apollo Creed in the first four Rocky films opposite Sylvester Stallone and also faced-off against Arnold Schwarzenegger in Predator.
He was also known for his role in the Star Wars series The Mandalorian and Happy Gilmore.
Weathers was born in 1948 in New Orleans. Besides his 50-year career in movies and television, he was a former professional American football player.
