ANKARA (AA) - Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo rose more than 2.5 meters (8 feet) to score a header against Sampdoria in a Serie A match, his team Juventus confirmed Thursday.
Ronaldo scored his team's second goal Wednesday with an incredible header by jumping 71 centimeters (30 inches) on a cross by Brazilian left-back Alex Sandro in the 45th minute of the match.
"Last night, Cristiano Ronaldo trended across social platforms for his excellent goal that proved to be the decisive strike in the 1-2 away victory over Sampdoria. His goal, though, was no ordinary header ... In fact, he reached a great height in order to convert his effort past [Emil] Audero," the club said.
"As he rose up into the air, where he seemingly hung suspended for a split second of time, Ronaldo reached an impressive height of 2.56m when his head connected to the ball. In total, he jumped 71cms off the ground to nod in his 11th headed goal since joining Juventus," it added.
"Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No... it is @CRISTIANO!," Juventus said on Twitter.
Ronaldo also shared photos of his goal on Twitter and compared his jump with NBA legend Michael Jordan with the caption: "CR7 AIR JORDAN!."
