Miranchuk scores winning goal as Russia topple Finland 1-0 in Group B game 2

ANKARA (AA) – Russia on Wednesday won against Finland 1-0 in the UEFA EURO 2020 Group B match in Saint Petersburg, sealing an important victory for their last 16 hopes.

In the fourth minute, Finnish forward Joel Pohjanpalo's goal from header was disallowed for an offside after a VAR (Video Assistant Referee) review.

Russian midfielder Aleksei Miranchuk scored the opener for his nation in the injury time of the first half.

Miranchuk exchanged passes with Russian forward Artem Dzyuba to send the ball into the far roof of Finland net.

Russia that led the first half at Saint Petersburg Stadium won the game two 1-0 as the Finnish efforts for an equalizer fell short.

In the Group B, Belgium, Russia and Finland have three points each. Denmark come last with no points.

Belgium will visit Denmark in the game two in Copenhagen on Thursday.
