ISTANBUL (AA) - Russia on Thursday called the US a “locomotive” that is encouraging Ukraine to continue the war.
“Naturally, America is the locomotive in this regard, the locomotive in terms of encouraging Ukrainians to go to war,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters in a press briefing.
Regarding a question on whether the possible refusal of Washington to send further military aid to Ukraine would serve as a signal to other countries, Peskov said that this is “hard to say.”
Peskov expressed Russia’s regret over US officials continuing to use Russia as a tool in internal affairs.
“And in this case specifically, they are engaged in absolutely blatant demonization of our country in order to indoctrinate their congressmen and senators, and in order to continue to burn the money of American taxpayers in the furnace of the Ukrainian war,” he added.
He said that Russia hopes there are still enough US congressmen who understand this is “nothing more than absolute demonization.”
On Wednesday, the US Senate failed to advance President Joe Biden's over $105 billion spending package, which largely consists of additional military aid for Ukraine and Israel.
