MOSCOW (AA) - The Russian Defense Ministry said Thursday that the Ukrainian settlement of Tonenke in the Donetsk region went under its control.
The village is located near Avdiivka, an important transport hub, the ministry said in a statement.
It said it carried out strikes with hypersonic Kinzhal (Dagger) missiles that targeted the decision-making centers of Ukraine's armed forces.
"The objectives of the strike have been achieved. All objects have been hit," it said.
Kyiv Mayor Vitaly Klichko said earlier that two enterprises were damaged by Russian strikes and explosions were heard in several districts of the capital.
Kyivans posted photos and videos on social media of a column of black smoke in the city center.
Russia started its “special military operation” in Ukraine in early 2022.
