Flights from Moscow’s Vnukovo, Domodedovo, Zhukovsky airports temporarily restricted, says Federal Air Transport Agency

ISTANBUL (AA) - Russia on Monday claimed foiling Ukrainian drone attacks in Moscow and Bryansk regions.

“On August 28, at about 04:30 Moscow time (0130GMT), air defense forces thwarted another attempt by the Kyiv regime to carry out a terrorist attack by an aircraft-type unmanned aerial vehicle on the territory of the Russian Federation,” the Defense Ministry said in a statement.

It added that the drone was destroyed by air defense systems over the Lyuberetsky district, Moscow region.

An earlier statement said air defense systems shot down two drones over the Bryansk region.

The Federal Air Transport Agency said flights from Moscow's Vnukovo, Domodedovo and Zhukovsky airports were temporarily restricted "in order to ensure the safety of civil aircraft flights."

Drone strikes inside Russia have dramatically increased in recent months, with authorities accusing Ukraine of being behind them. Although Kyiv has not claimed responsibility, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in July the attacks on Russian territory were an “inevitable, natural and absolutely fair process.”
