ISTANBUL (AA) — Russia claimed early Sunday that it intercepted and destroyed 17 drones launched by Ukraine during an overnight attack on multiple parts of the country.
A Defense Ministry statement said air defenses intercepted nine of the drones over the border region of Bryansk, the administrative capital of which is located 379 kilometers (235 miles) southwest of the capital Moscow.
It added that two and three drones, respectively, were downed over the border regions of Kursk and Belgorod, while another three were hit over the Kaluga region.
Kaluga's regional governor, Vladislav Shapsha, said on Telegram that those three fell on the premises of the Lyudinovo oil depot, but caused no casualties or damage.
Ukrainian authorities have yet to comment on the Russian claims.
