MOSCOW (AA) – Russia claimed on Sunday that it had foiled a Ukrainian attack on the capital Moscow and nearby regions using aircraft-type uncrewed aerial vehicles (UAVs).
"At around 4 a.m. Moscow time (0100GMT), the Kyiv regime's attempt to carry out a terrorist attack on facilities in Moscow and the Moscow region with aircraft-type UAVs was foiled," the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement.
Air defense forces on duty detected a UAV flying in the direction of the Russian capital in the airspace of the Stupino district of the Moscow region, the statement said.
The UAV was intercepted by radio electronic warfare vehicles, and it then lost control and fell into an empty area, causing no casualties or damage, the ministry said.
