MOSCOW (AA) – Russia on Wednesday claimed that its forces have taken control of the village of Rivnopil in Ukraine's Donetsk region.
According to a Defense Ministry statement, the village came under Russian control following an operation led by the Vostok (East) group of forces.
Rivnopil is situated in the so-called Vremyevsky ledge – a territory on a hill at the junction of Donetsk and Zaporizhzhia regions, approximately 6 kilometers (3.73 miles) northwest of Staromaiorske, which the Defense Ministry said was captured on June 10.
To the northeast of Rivnopil is the settlement of Velyka Novosilka, one of the main logistics points of Ukraine's armed forces in the area.
Ukraine has yet to respond to Russia's claims, and independent verification is difficult due to the ongoing war.
