Russia-Islamic World: Kazan Forum set to take place next month

International event to promote economic cooperation between Russia, OIC countries is scheduled for May 18-19 in Tatarstan

ISTANBUL (AA) – The Russia-Islamic World: Kazan Forum – the platform for economic cooperation between the Russian Federation and members of the organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) – will take place next month in the Russian Republic of Tatarstan.

The international forum, set to take place on May 18-19 in the capital Kazan, was first held in 2009.

The annual event aims to strengthen trade and economic, scientific-technical, social and cultural ties between Russia and members of the Islamic bloc, and to promote the development of Islamic financial institutions in Russia.

Russian President Vladimir Putin decided to grant federal status to the forum.

During the event, Russian meetings with officials from Türkiye, Indonesia, Egypt, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Malaysia, and Iran are planned to be held.

Last year, the forum brought nearly 6,400 delegates from 64 countries and 59 regions of Russia.
