ISTANBUL (AA) - Russia said on Sunday that the death toll from Ukrainian shelling in the city of Tokmak in the southeastern Zaporizhzhia region rose to 16.
“Rescuers recovered four bodies from the rubble, including one child. One person died in hospital,” Yevgeny Balitsky, the Russian-installed governor of the Zaporizhzhia region, said on Telegram.
Balitsky said 20 people were also wounded in the attack on Friday night, with 12 in serious condition.
Work to clear the debris, as well as search and rescue efforts, are continuing, he added.
Tokmak has been under Moscow’s control since the early stages of the Ukraine war, which entered its third year two months ago.
