ISTANBUL (AA) - Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoygu said on Thursday that the country’s production of artillery shells has increased by almost 2.5-fold in the past year.
“After the start of operation of new facilities, production volume actually increased by almost 2.5 times,” Shoygu was quoted saying by the Russian Defense Minister during a working meeting in the country’s Nizhny Novgorod region.
Expressing that the production of components for the ammunition increased by almost 22 times, he said 75% of components are being restored, which allows them to maintain a sufficient level of supply of shells to the front line with Ukraine.
Russia launched its "special military operation" in Ukraine in February 2022.
