MOSCOW (AA) - The Russian Foreign Ministry on Friday summoned Estonian charge d'affaires in Russia Jana Vanamolder over Tallinn's plans to move tombs of Soviet servicemen from the Tallinn Military Cemetery without the consent of relatives.
The ministry told the Estonian diplomat that "such blasphemous actions run counter to generally accepted international practice and human morality, which Tallinn lost long ago," according to a statement by the ministry.
The ministry warned that such actions would not remain without a response.
On Jan. 31, the Russian Embassy in Estonia said Estonia planned "to desecrate the graves of Red Army soldiers at the military cemetery in Tallinn."
The Estonian Military Museum is going to dismantle the tombstones to allegedly rebury the remains of servicemen, it said, questioning why everything is being done secretly without any media coverage, and called these actions by Tallinn "an act of vandalism."
