ANKARA (AA) – Russia’s Foreign Ministry has summoned Poland’s ambassador to Moscow, its spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on Wednesday.
Earlier in the day, the Russian Defense Ministry denied that its forces carried out any strikes on targets near Ukraine’s border with Poland.
It accused Polish media and officials of “deliberate provocation,” asserting that Russia and its weapons had “nothing to do” with Tuesday night’s explosions in Przewodow, a village in eastern Poland near its border with Ukraine.
NATO chief Jens Stoltenberg also said on Wednesday that there is no indication that the explosions resulted from a deliberate attack.
“(The) missile strike in Poland (was) likely caused by Ukrainian air defense,” he said in Brussels after an urgent NATO meeting.
