ISTANBUL (AA) – Russia on Monday said it supported the statements made by US President Joe Biden on the need for a “new world order.”
“We absolutely agree with Mr. Biden. This is a rare case when we absolutely agree with what he said. Indeed, the world needs a new order based on completely different principles,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told journalists in a press briefing in Moscow.
Peskov further said that such a “new world order” must be based on international law, mutual respect, mutual benefit, and non-interference in each other’s internal affairs.
The spokesman showed Moscow’s disagreement with Biden’s later statements on Washington being capable of building such an “order,” saying that the world order referred to by the US president means an “American-centric world order.”
“That is a world that revolves around the United States. It won't be like this anymore,” Peskov added.
"We were in a post-war period for 50 years where it worked pretty damn well, but that’s sort of run out of steam... It needs a new world order in a sense like that was a world order," Biden said during a campaign reception in Washington D.C. on Friday.
