MOSCOW (AA) - Russia on Monday announced evacuation from two settlements in the southern Kursk region where fighting with Ukrainian troops has been ongoing since Aug. 6.
Kursk region governor, Alexey Smirnov, said on Telegram that the settlements of Rylskoye and Khomutovskoye, located within 15 km zone adjacent to Ukraine subject to obligatory evacuation.
Local administration together with law enforcement bodies and people’s militia will coordinate the evacuation, he added.
The governor asked the residents to treat the situation with understanding and follow the authorities’ recommendations.
Fighting continues in both the Kursk region, where Ukrainian forces launched an incursion on Aug. 6, and in eastern Ukraine, where Russia claims ongoing advances on several fronts.
