Russian cargo spacecraft successfully arrives at International Space Station

Spacecraft Progress MS-27 docks at International Space Station with tools, clothing, food, fuel, and nitrogen

MOSCOW (AA) - Russia’s space agency on Saturday said its Progress Ms-27 cargo spacecraft had successfully docked at the International Space Station.

The spacecraft was launched from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in neighboring Kazakhstan on Thursday and arrived at the station on schedule, Roscosmos said in a statement.

The spacecraft carried 2,504 kg (5,520 pounds) of cargo to the station, including 1,290 kg (2,843 lb) of tools and equipment for station systems, stowage for scientific experiments, clothing, food, medical and personal care products for the crew, 754 kg (1,662 lb) of fuel for refueling the station, 420 kg (926 lb) of drinking water, and 40 kg (88 lb) of nitrogen to replenish the station’s atmosphere.

Progress MS-27 also delivered gifts for Russian cosmonauts, as one of them, Oleg Kononeko, will mark his 60th birthday on June 21, and Aleksander Grebenkin has his own birthday on July 15.
