MOSCOW (AA) - Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoygu announced new appointments in the Russian army on Tuesday.
Speaking at a meeting with the military chiefs in Moscow, Shoygu said Admiral Alexandr Moiseev was appointed to the position of the commander-in-chief of the Russian Navy.
Meanwhile, Vice Admiral Konstantin Kabantsov assumed the post of the commander of the Northern Fleet and Vice Admiral Sergey Pinchuk -- commander of the Black Sea Fleet.
"Colleagues, congratulations! You understand the huge responsibility that falls on your shoulders. And I hope that you will cope with the tasks that the supreme commander-in-chief of the armed forces of the Russian Federation, the Defense Ministry of the Russian Federation and, of course, the country have set for you," Shoygu said.
The Russian Fleet has suffered significant losses from Ukraine's attack in recent months, which led to reshuffles in the command staff.
