ATHENS (AA) – If no action is taken, Russia's disinformation campaign could have an impact on the European Parliament election, which will be held on July 6-9, Romania claimed on Monday.
Russia is starting to sow more political divisions in the Western Balkans and is attempting to rewrite the international order, Romanian Deputy Foreign Minister Daniela Gitman said at the EU Meets the Balkans forum in Sofia, according to Bulgaria’s state-run BTA news agency.
Against this background, Gitman emphasized that the EU should find the right answers and play a decisive role, becoming a powerful and significant factor on the international stage.
It is important to understand that there is no rivalry between EU member Balkan countries and the Western Balkans. It is the Member States' responsibility to provide political support and motivation for the enlargement process to progress, she said.
