ISTANBUL (AA) - The US is forcing European states to finance Ukraine against the well-being of their own citizens, the head of the Russian State Duma said early Sunday.
“The US is forcing the states of Europe to finance the Kyiv regime at the cost of the well-being of their own citizens. But, as it turns out, they bear costs much less than others,” Vyacheslav Volodin said on Telegram.
Volodin noted that, in terms of spending, the US utilizes 0.37% of the share of its GDP, which he said is 5.7 times less than Poland's.
He further said Estonia, Latvia, the Czech Republic, Lithuania, Slovakia, Bulgaria, Malta, Norway, Romania, and the Greek Cypriot administration are forcing Washington to spend more on Ukraine.
“In addition, the countries of the European Union bear additional costs due to anti-Russian sanctions, which have hit their economies like a boomerang,” Volodin also said.
He said that, by continuing to supply weapons to Kyiv, EU leaders are acting contrary to their national interests and at the expense of their citizens.
“Washington once again showed that the main principle of its policy is to use other countries to achieve its interests,” he added.
