MOSCOW (AA) – Head of the Russian General Staff Valery Gerasimov visited the war zone in Ukraine on Tuesday.
The Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement that Gerasimov inspected the positions of the Russian Vostok (East) Group of Forces, where he was briefed on the current situation by Lieutenant General Alexander Sanchik.
Gerasimov noted the Vostok group's successes in capturing the village of Urozhnoye and assigned tasks for future actions.
The Vostok military commanders demonstrated Gerasimov robotic complexes that had been successfully used in assault operations.
Gerasimov also presented state awards to servicemen who distinguished themselves in battles, thanking them for their courage and bravery.
Following the award ceremony, the chief of the General Staff spoke with the officers and soldiers who helped take over Urozhnoye. They shared insights on their preparations and the assault on the settlement.
