MOSCOW (AA) - Several people were detained in Russia's Dagestan region during a raid on a residential building amid reports about a bomb threat, according to the Interior Ministry.
It happened in the city of Kaspiysk where police evacuated residents of the building to search for a bomb that was allegedly planted inside, it said.
The head of the Interior Ministry regional office press service, Gayana Garieva, said separately that information about barricaded residents in a house is not accurate.
"Law enforcement officers in Kaspiysk conducted operational and investigative measures at several addresses. The information spread on social networks about the barricaded persons does not correspond to reality. At the moment, peaceful citizens are not in danger, public order is not violated," she noted.
Garieva stressed that "the situation is under full control of the security forces of Dagestan."
Security measures in Dagestan were elevated following a June 23 attack when terrorists assaulted Orthodox churches, synagogues and a traffic police post in Derbent and Makhachkala that killed 22 victims.
