Russia’s security chief attends Airshow China

Sergei Shoygu briefed on Chinese aircraft carrier, amphibious assault formations, as well as 5th-generation stealth jets including J20S, J35A

ISTANBUL (AA) – Russian Security Council Secretary Sergey Shoygu on Thursday visited Airshow China, a six-day aviation event in southern China, local media reported.

Shoygu was briefed on China's aircraft carrier and amphibious assault formations, as well as the J-20S and J35A, domestically developed fifth-generation fighter jets, according to Beijing-based Xinhua News.

The 15th International Aviation and Aerospace Exhibition, or Airshow China, started on Tuesday in the southern city of Zhuhai.

China’s stealth fighter jet J35A made its debut on Tuesday, one day after the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Liberation Army Air Force.

Beijing also unveiled a large-scale model of its next-generation J-20S stealth fighter jet.

More than 1,020 enterprises from 47 countries and regions are taking part in the six-day aviation event.

The number of foreign aviation exhibitors at the event has increased from 78 in 2022 to 159 this year.

Russia's Su-57 advanced stealth fighter jet was also showcased at Airshow China for the first time.

Shoygu is on a five-day official trip to China for annual bilateral strategic security consultations with Foreign Minister Wang Yi.
