ISTANBUL (AA) – Saudi Arabia on Monday confirmed 34 more fatalities from the novel coronavirus over the past 24 hours, bringing the nationwide death toll to 746.
A further 3,369 people also tested positive for COVID-19, raising the overall count to 105,283, the country’s Health Ministry said in a statement.
According to the statement, 74,524 people have recovered and been discharged from hospitals so far.
The capital Riyadh has the largest number of COVID-19 cases in the country with 746, followed by Jeddah with 577 cases and Mecca with 376.
Authorities on Friday announced a renewed two-week lockdown in Jeddah to prevent a new outbreak in the city.
As part of the measures, the government declared a curfew from 3 pm to 6 am, and suspended daily prayers in mosques across the city.
The mosques in the country were reopened in late May after staying closed for nearly two months as part of measures to curb the virus’ spread.
