Saudi capital Riyadh will host the women's tennis finals for the next three years, the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) confirmed on Thursday.
"Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, will host the next three editions of the WTA Finals from 2024-2026, following the announcement Thursday of a new agreement between the WTA and the Saudi Tennis Federation," a WTA statement read.
The statement added that the Saudi Tennis Federation will offer "record prize money of $15.25 million at the WTA Finals in 2024 with further increases in 2025 and 2026."
The 2024 WTA Finals will be played from Nov. 2 to 9 in Riyadh.
Saudi Arabia has made a massive investment in sports for the past few years as the Spanish Super Cup, and Italian Super Cup in football, and heavyweight professional boxing fights were held in this country.
The Saudi Arabian Grand Prix has been on the Formula 1 calendar since 2021.
The largest country in the Arabian Peninsula, Saudi Arabia is set to host men's 2034 FIFA World Cup after the world football's governing body confirmed that it is the only nation to bid on a quadrennial international football tournament.
Saudi Arabia also hosted the 2023 FIFA Club World Cup in December that was won by English powerhouse Manchester City.
