BAKU (AA) – The Saudi minister of state for foreign affairs underlined the strength and depth of ties between Saudi Arabia and Türkiye, describing the relationship as "broad" and "very deep."

"The relationship between Saudi Arabia and Türkiye is a strong one; it's broad and very deep," Adel al-Jubeir told Anadolu on the sidelines of the UN Climate Change Conference COP29 in Baku.

He highlighted ambitions to expand cooperation across various sectors, including economy, energy, politics, and military collaboration.

"We aim to advance cooperation between the two countries in different areas," al-Jubeir said.

The minister noted that the two nations "closely consult" on both regional and global issues, from climate change to ocean preservation and desertification, reinforcing their shared commitment to addressing common challenges.

The trade volume between Türkiye and Saudi Arabia increased 50% in the last two years, reaching $6.8 billion in 2023. The two countries cooperate especially in technology, defense industry, renewable energy, petrochemistry, finance, and tourism.

Previously, Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yilmaz had said that Türkiye and Saudi Arabia aim to increase the bilateral trade volume to $10 billion in the short term and to over $30 billion in the medium term.
