Saudi king, Tunisian president hold talks in Tunis

Meeting comes two days before scheduled Arab League summit in Tunisian capital

RIYADH (AA) – Saudi King Salman Bin Abdulaziz on Friday held talks with Tunisian President Baji Caid Essebsi in the Tunisian capital, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

Held at the Carthage Presidential Palace, the meeting comes only two days before a scheduled Arab League summit to be hosted by Tunis.

At Friday’s meeting, the two leaders stressed their countries’ “brotherly relations” and reviewed “regional and international developments”, according to SPA.

On Thursday evening, King Salman arrived in Tunisia, where he will lead the Saudi delegation at Sunday’s summit.

The summit’s agenda is expected to include recent Israeli escalations against the Hamas-run Gaza Strip; ongoing crises in Syria, Libya, Yemen and Sudan; alleged Iranian interference in Arab affairs; and the fight against terrorism.
