Saudi official blames Iran for attack on oil facilities

Carried out by Yemen’s Houthi group, attack targeted pumping stations on strategic East-West Oil Pipeline

RIYADH (AA) - Adel al-Jubeir, Saudi Arabia’s minister of state for foreign affairs, has accused Iran of ordering Tuesday’s drone attack on Saudi oil facilities.

Carried out by Yemen’s Houthi rebel group, the attack targeted two pumping stations on the East-West Pipeline, which carries oil from Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Province to the Port of Yanbu.

“The Houthis continue to serve Iran’s agenda at the expense of the Yemeni people,” al-Jubeir tweeted.

“The group represents a vital component of Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps, from which it receives its instructions,” he added.

On Wednesday, Saudi Arabia sent a letter to the UN Security Council blaming Iran -- and the Houthis -- for the attack, which reportedly caused significant damage.
