ISLAMABAD (AA) - Authorities in Western Australia closed schools and ports on Thursday and canceled flights due to Tropical Cyclone Zelia, which has been upgraded to the strongest possible Category 5 storm, public broadcaster ABC News reported.

Zelia is due to make landfall on Friday in the remote Pilbara region, home to major ports, according to Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Besides the ports of Dampier and Varanus Island, Port Hedland, the world's biggest export point for iron ore, has also been shut.
