ANKARA (AA) – With the announcement that Formula 1 driver Mick Schumacher and team Haas will part ways at the end of the 2022 season, the German driver voiced disappointment with the move.
"Mick Schumacher will leave Haas at the end of the season – with his hopes of finding a seat at another team for 2023 looking slim," the Formula 1 website said on Thursday.
Schumacher said that the 2022 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix on Sunday will be his last race with Haas, adding that he is "disappointed" about the team's decision.
"This is going to be my last race with Haas F1 Team. I don't want to hide the fact that I am very disappointed about the decision not to renew our contract," he wrote on Twitter, but also thanked the team for the opportunity.
Schumacher, 23, joined Haas for 2021 after winning the 2020 Formula 2 Championship.
Mick is the son of seven-time Formula 1 champion Michael Schumacher.
Nico Hulkenberg will race alongside Kevin Magnussen at Haas in 2023, the organizers said on Twitter.
That news means Hulkenberg, 35, will make a full-time return to Formula 1 next year.
