LONDON (AA) - The Scottish National Party (SNP) treasurer Colin Beattie was arrested on Tuesday in connection with the investigation into the party’s funding and finances, police said.
Beattie, 71, is currently in custody and is being questioned by the detectives, Police Scotland said in a statement.
The arrest came in connection with the investigation into the party’s funding and finances, it added.
Beattie is a member of the Scottish Parliament (MSP) from Midlothian North and Musselburgh.
It comes nearly two weeks after Peter Murrell, 58, the husband of former party leader and Scottish First Minister Nicola Sturgeon, was arrested and questioned by detectives who searched his home in Glasgow and the SNP headquarters in Edinburgh.
Murrell was released without charge on the same day.
