ISTANBUL (AA) — Four Australians surfers and two Indonesian crew members of a boat that went missing were found alive on Tuesday, while the search for one more crew member continues.
A group of four surfers on a trip to celebrate had gone missing in a speedboat with three Indonesian crew members on Sunday, public broadcaster ABC reported.
The surfers were found near islands in northeastern Indonesia.
“Relieved to confirm four Australians who were missing in Indonesia have been found safe and well,” Australian Foreign Minister Penny Won said on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter.
She added that the search for one remaining crew member continues and thanked “Indonesian authorities who led search efforts and Australian officials who assisted.”
Australia and Indonesia have been working closely assisting with an air and sea search across 50 nautical miles (57.5 miles).
