DAKAR, Senegal (AA) – A Senegalese business association has applauded Turkish investors in the country saying projects given to them are completed quickly and efficiently.
Abdou Paye Deing, director of Business and Finance Association, said that Turkish companies have a reliable image in Senegal due to their professionalism.
“Turkey is a model country for Africa because of its fast growing economy,” he said speaking exclusively to Anadolu Agency.
The close ties between Senegalese President Macky Sall and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan are reflected in the economic cooperation between the two countries, he added.
He praised in particular Summa, a Turkish company, which completed the Dakar conference center in 2014 that hosted the Francophone Summit, “much faster than it was expected”.
The Abdou Diouf de Diamniado International Conference Center, is the largest Turkish investment officially completed in Senegal. Turkey provided €48.5 million ($54.06 million) in financing it.
Turkish companies Summa and Limak are at present carrying out construction of Dakar's new Blaise Diagne International Airport.
According to the Ministry of Economy, the bilateral trade between Turkey and Senegal reached $160 million in 2016, while Turkey's imports from Senegal rose to $6.1 million in the same year.
