MOSCOW (AA) - Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov discussed on Tuesday the latest situation in the Gaza Strip with Israeli Ambassador Alexander Ben Zvi.
The Russian side emphasized the importance of resolving humanitarian issues “as soon as possible,” including the release of hostages, ensuring the safe evacuation of Russian citizens from the Gaza Strip, as well as ensuring the delivery of humanitarian supplies to the territory of the Palestinian enclave, a Russian Foreign Ministry statement said.
Last weekend the Israeli army widened its air and ground attacks on the Gaza Strip, which has been under relentless airstrikes since the surprise offensive by Hamas.
More than 9,800 people have been killed in the conflict, including 8,306 Palestinians and 1,538 Israelis.
